So I bet many of you are wondering what I’ve been up to why I haven’t given you any health advice recently!
I mean…isn’t that why I’m here?
Well…I think it’s about time I let you all in on a secret: I’ve got bigger plans for you.
The Skinny on Health is working on a big transition…from blogger to MPH/RD. This isn’t happening until Fall, but I’m currently pouring my heart and soul into it (and finishing my research and clinical internship!) to make it absolutely perfect for you all.
And, in Fall of 2015, you can expect a few really big changes, including:
- a new name — reflecting some new and improved mantras of TSOH.
- a new site design — think less pink, more ‘everybody’s’ dietitian.
- new services and perks of being a reader (think memberships…)
- more all-encompassing topics — everything from specific vitamin benefits in foods, to fitness, to skincare and hair, to sustainable environments and international health. Yep, go big or go home, right?
- some more really big and exciting things that I’m somehow going to keep hush hush for the next 4 months!
So, anywho, that’s what I’ve been working on while not posting daily. The biggest challenge for me has been the name. I really love The Skinny on Health, and remember the day I came up with the name. it’s going to be tough to say goodbye to it for a new brand! Additionally, it’s hard to find on or two words to sum up my message quite as well as TSOH does for me. However, new degrees, new career, new title! Onwards and upwards!
I hope you’re all as excited as I am for this fall! I can guarantee you that if you’re reading this (aka you’ve been a TSOH reader from the start), you are in for some major treats — think discounted or maybe even FREE memberships, goodie bags, and special services!! So, please forgive my hiatus, I’ll come back to you all in full-force soon enough and very, very grateful for your loyal readership!
I was recently at a dance class (my friends and I thought we were going to a bar with dancing, turns out it was a square dancing class!), and my friends and I were goofing around and not listening to the teacher’s instructions (whoops). This sweet older woman dance teacher goes, “you better step up, or step off!” (imagine hand on the hip and other finger in your face) outta nowhere. Totally threw us off. So, I’m taking her advice. I have come to a point in my education/career/blog in which I have a choice: I can step up or step off. I’m stepping up, and turning TSOH into the brand I’ve always wished there were in the world — an all-encompassing, educational, relatable voice for the public to learn about and understand their health and well-being on a productive level, so that they and their health can not only positively impact their personal life, but their community, country, and, hopefully, the public of the entire world. (Dream big, right?)
Also, I want to hear your voice when it comes to TSOH! Please email me ([email protected]) or comment below if you have any requests you’d like to share for TSOH’s future. Anything you want me to write about? Any name/design/logo ideas? Any topics I should focus on? You’re all a big part of TSOH, and I want to keep it that way!
PS - In the meantime, you can follow for updates on the future of TSOH via Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook!
